Turtle - Mother Earth |
|
She is the oldest symbol for our planet. She stands for respect and balance,
giving and taking, not taking more than we need. As we ride on her back,
fighting her natural rhythms, after a few knocks and bumps, we may come
to a place of questioning. What is this life all about? We might, for a
second, take some time out and find ourselves amongst her great beauty,
noticing the miracles of nature that occur every day. For a second, we are
in the present moment, appreciating and respecting her splendour. Our mind
is at peace. We sit and breathe deeply.
|
Dolphin - Manna, the Breath of Life |
|
It
is the universal life force present in every living thing and is the essence
of what the Native Americans call Great Spirit. It is prana, chi and ki.
As we breathe more deeply, dolphin brings us the message of the existence
of Great Spirit (or what we in the west may call God). When we step back
into our old routines and ways, it is hard to maintain inner peace and the
connection to Great Spirit that dolphin has shown us. Material things have
less importance than before and life seems much more complicated than it
has to be. We start to strive to regain our inner peace. This means making
changes.
|
Butterfly - Transformation |
|
She
is keeper of cycles. She will help us to realise at what stage of a cycle
we are in now and to appreciate where we have been. From here we can determine
how to move forward and make the changes that we need in order to bring
about inner peace into our daily lives. She will help us to deal with change,
which is not always easy. Many of us stumble at this point, for change not
only affects us, but those around us. Resistance may have to be overcome
by those who have not yet met turtle and dolphin, for they are still in
the material world of past and future. They may not wish to meet them at
all, in which case, major life changes may have to be endured. Butterfly
is the freedom of choice and the realisation that each of us is ultimately
responsible for ourselves.
|
Buffalo - Prayer and Abundance |
|
White
buffalo is sacred. He gave every part of himself to The Native American
to sustain them, for which they are eternally grateful . When our transformation
is complete, buffalo shows us how to be humble enough to ask Great Spirit
for what we need to sustain ourselves and to be grateful for all that we
receive. He opens our hearts to the concept of unconditional love, sharing
with all races, creatures, nations and all life. We begin to realise the
joys of giving and receiving. As we become more open and our inner light
starts to shine brightly, we will attract much attention. In this stage
if spiritual infancy, we may give away too much of ourselves. Buffalo teaches
us to look after our own needs and sustain ourselves, so we can better give
to others.
|
Owl - Wisdom and Deception |
|
She
opens up our intuition. She brings us messages through our dreams and through
meditation. She gives us clarity, the ability to see the truth of any situation.
She allows us to see that which others may not. Owl shows us discernment.
She gives us the inner knowing to trust our gut instincts, allowing us to
give our energies only to those who are genuine and not to those who are
deceiving us.
|
Mountain Lion - Leadership |
|
She
also reminds us of our responsibility for ourselves and others. She gives
us lessons in the use of power. It is likely, at this stage of development,
that we will be sharing the insights of our journey thus far. Can we give
our knowledge freely? Can we truly accept others, without judgement, that
do not agree with our point of view? Can we lead by example? Will we let
our ego, put ourselves on a pedestal? We may come across many from whom
we seek answers who do some, if not all of the above! We may become fearful
of moving forward for fear of misusing our power. Lessons of power control
are amongst the hardest to overcome. Mountain Lion will help us to walk
our talk and lead by example, if we let her. She will teach us how to respond,
not to react, and to always speak our truth.
|
Bear - Introspection |
|
For
to know ones truth, one has to look within. In the western world, life is
so fast and hectic, and demands are so great, that who we really are gets
lost. Many of us are conditioned from an early age to conform to the will
of others. We may have trouble in speaking our truth, if we do know it,
for fear of upsetting someone else or of some kind of retribution. Bear
helps us to find and reconnect with that which we already know. Our true
selves. He reminds us to enter the silence, through meditation or quiet
reflection, so our true feelings can emerge. This allows us to see the reality
of a situation, not the illusion that may be being presented.
|
Wolf - Teacher |
|
When
we emerge from bear’s cave, he will help us to stay connected to our
true or higher selves. He is the ultimate reminder that the only real teacher
comes from within. When we can attain this state of being, it becomes easy
to share ourselves and our knowledge, for we are coming from a place of
truth and unconditional love. When we are connected to our higher selves,
wolf brings us new ideas and inspiration.
|
Eagle - Spirit |
|
He
is the ability to live in the realm of spirit yet stay grounded and connected
to the realm of earth. Those that reach up without first connecting to the
earth will float away on the clouds, never reaching their destination, and
those who are so strongly attached to the earth, and fear reaching up, cannot
see further than their own reality. Eagle gives us the courage to connect
both ways. Like him, we can soar, and fly close to Great Spirit. If we let
him, he will take us to great heights, giving us expanded perception and
therefore understanding . From above we can see the whole picture. He is
the acceptance of both the dark and the light, for both are within us all.
He is truth, he is love, he is the freedom to be ourselves and follow our
paths to true happiness.
